Our Story

Blessed Marriage is an Alabama non-profit organization. It was founded by Shawn and Rhonda Bardon in April of 2022. It began in 2010 as they became involved in marriage ministry at their church. Over the years, they ministered to couples, adjusting their methods as they saw what worked. In 2020, they developed online ministry, due to Covid restrictions. Eventually, they developed a website and selected Blessed Marriage as the name. It was a step in their dream to reach couples with God-given methods that worked across varying dynamics. They knew hurting couples were out there with a tendency to wait until they were falling off the marriage cliff toward divorce before asking for help.

Based on their experience, they knew these couples lacked the tools to make it work. Their goal was to offer varied types of support for couples to bring in new perspectives that could turn around their relationships. Their hope was to share effective tools and information to help them understand each other and develop the skills needed to be successful in marriage.

They continued pouring into couples and learning skills and information to expand their understanding of the dynamics operating behind the scenes that were destroying relationships. Over time, effective relational concepts began to stand out, and in 2026 they published their first book, Communicating by the Rules: Remove Roadblocks, Refuel, & Restore Relationships.

Currently, they are further expanding processes to reach into churches, businesses, and communities through uniting marriage ministers to bring good news to married couples in need.

About Shawn & Rhonda

Hello!  We are Shawn and Rhonda Bardon.  We have a passion for ministering to couples and believe God has called us to share what He has given us from His Word, education, research, and experience from our own marriage along with what we have learned as we work with others.  We have been blessed to see miracle after miracle of restoration and growth as couples learn how to have godly, healthy marriages.  We’d love to share this with you, believing God that it will bless your marriage, too.

Shawn is a graduate of Christ for the Nations Institute, and Rhonda graduated from Auburn University. We both have a Master of Ministry with a specialization in Biblical Counseling through West Coast Bible College and Seminary. We are Board Certified Biblical Counselors through the International Board of Christian Care, a segment of the American Association of Christian Counselors, of which we are members. We are life coaches, as well as Marriage and Family Mental Health Coaches and Youth Mental Health Coaches through Light University. Currently, we are working to expand ministry to couples, continue to care directly for couples in need of marital mentoring, and develop marriage educational materials. We are excited to release our first book, Communicating by the Rules - Remove Roadblocks Restore & Rebuild Relationships, in May of 2026! We have been married since 1987 and live in Alabama.  We are the parents of 5 amazing children and enjoy the blessings of grandparenting.

Meet Shawn

I have lived in Arab, Alabama since 1988 with my wife, Rhonda.  We have five children – four sons, one daughter – and four grandchildren.  I enjoy decorative plants and landscape features.  We operate two businesses.  Favorite forms of exercise for us are biking and walking.  We enjoy helping distressed couples find a rewarding and satisfying relationship with each other and with God.   We love serving at our church in North Alabama.

Meet Rhonda

Shawn and I have been serving the Lord together since we met in 1985.  We have four sons, a daughter, and four grandchildren, and I adore spending time with all of them.  We live in the country and enjoy developing a garden area on our property where we host events.  Biking, one of our hobbies that gets us away from everything, along with daily walks, are special times alone with Shawn, my absolute best friend ever!  We are passionate about helping couples surrender to God in their lives at home. Together, we care for couples at our church and manage our businesses.
